By Friday afternoon, Ankeny could have three high school soccer teams playing for a state title — or in one. Two of them take the field tonight at 7 p.m., both at home, both win-or-go-home. Pack a poncho and pick a sideline. Let's roll. 🚲
⚽ The big one: Ankeny's soccer trifecta — two regional finals tonight, a state final Friday
Tonight, 7 p.m., AHS Turf Field: The Ankeny Hawks girls (10-5-1) host Cedar Rapids Kennedy (10-1-2) in the Class 3A Region 6 championship. Win, and they're in the state tournament. The Hawks earned the home final by burying Marshalltown 11-1 on Tuesday — Isabel Squires scored four.
Tonight, 7 p.m., Northview: Across town, No. 3 Ankeny Centennial (14-2-1) hosts No. 12 Cedar Rapids Prairie in their own 3A regional final. It's a rematch — the Jaguars beat Prairie 5-0 back on April 10 — and a win means an 11th state berth in the program's 12-year history. "I really believe in this group and what they can accomplish," coach Chris Allen said after Tuesday's 5-0 semifinal win over Cedar Falls.
And the boys? Top-ranked Centennial survived Des Moines Roosevelt 4-3 in overtime at last night's Class 4A state semifinal. They play No. 2 Waukee Northwest for the state championship Friday at 2:30 p.m. at Mediacom Stadium.
Heads up for tonight's games: showers are likely after 3 p.m. Bring rain gear and check school socials for any schedule changes before you head out.
🗳️ Quick hit: Primary night's stunner — Feenstra loses, Lahn vs. Sand in November
Tuesday's primary delivered the upset of the cycle. Businessman Zach Lahn beat U.S. Rep. Randy Feenstra for the Republican nomination for governor, 37.8% to 37% with 99% counted — days after President Trump endorsed Feenstra. Lahn now faces Democratic State Auditor Rob Sand in November, Iowa's first open governor's race since 2006.
Also set for the fall ballot: Ashley Hinson (R) vs. Josh Turek (D) for the open U.S. Senate seat, and Chris Cournoyer (R) vs. Taylor Wettach (D) for state auditor. Polk County's official canvass happens Tuesday, June 9.

💆 Local Business Spotlight: Molly E Massage Therapy — the massage that comes to your living room
Most massage appointments start with you fighting traffic to get there relaxed. Molly Egeberg, LMT, flips that: book her mobile service and the table, the hot stones and the therapist all show up at your door — or visit her Ankeny office if you'd rather get out of the house.
Either way, no two sessions look alike. Egeberg builds each one around what your body actually needs that day, drawing on cupping (suction cups that lift tissue to boost blood flow), muscle scraping (a smooth tool worked along tight muscle to release tension) and hot stones — whether you're after light relaxation or deep-tissue relief.
The basics:
💆 Personalized bodywork: cupping, muscle scraping, hot stones, relaxation to deep tissue
🧑⚕️ Owner: Molly Egeberg, licensed massage therapist
