Ankeny hands you two patio-perfect nights this weekend — then Sunday slams the door at 93°. We're spending one of them at a lakeside table we've been saving for exactly this kind of evening, with a free outdoor movie and a Saturday-morning market to round it out. Let's roll. 🚲

Investors see ANOTHER return from Masterworks (!!!!)

That’s 6 sales in 7 months. 29 all time. And the performance?

16.5%, 17.6%, and 17.8%, net annualized returns on sold works held longer than one year (See all 29 at Masterworks.com)

It’s not from stocks, private equity, or real estate… it’s from contemporary and post war art. Crazy, right?

With Masterworks, you don’t need to be a BILLIONAIRE to invest in multi-million dollar art anymore.

Historically, the segment overall has had attractive appreciation and low correlation to stocks.*

Masterworks targets works featuring legends like Banksy, Basquiat, and Picasso, identifying what they believe to have significant long-term appreciation potential, not just at the artist level but at the level of individual artworks.

As one of the largest players in the art market, with $1.3 billion invested over 500 artworks, they pass critical advantages through to their 70,000+ members to add art to their portfolios strategically.

🍷 Weekend pick: District 36 Wine Bar & Grille

Most Ankeny patios look out on a parking lot or a street. District 36 looks out on a lake.

Tucked into The District at Prairie Trail at 1375 SW Vintage Pkwy, this locally owned wine bar and American grille has been pouring since 2016, and its patio faces the water at Prairie Trail — which makes it the move for a warm Friday or Saturday night before Sunday's heat lands. Think a deep wine list paired with a from-scratch grille menu (short ribs, ribeye, pollo farfalle, fresh fish), the kind of spot you linger at rather than rush through.

One catch worth knowing: District 36 is closed Sundays. Friday and Saturday are your window — which happens to line up exactly with the only two comfortable evenings on the forecast.

The basics:

  • 🍷 Locally owned wine bar + American grille, est. 2016, on the lake at Prairie Trail

  • 🕗 Fri–Sat 11 a.m.–10 p.m. · closed Sunday

  • 📍 1375 SW Vintage Pkwy, Ankeny · ☎️ (515) 261-2502 (reservations)

🌦️ Weather: bank the patio nights

The good weather has an expiration date this weekend. Get outside Friday and Saturday — Sunday and Monday turn into the summer's first real scorcher.

  • Today (Friday): Partly sunny, high near 78°, light east wind.

  • Saturday: Mostly sunny, high near 82°, breezy (gusts to 24 mph). Showers and thunderstorms become likely after 1 a.m. Saturday night, so close the patio by midnight.

  • Sunday: Sunny and breezy, high near 93°.

🏠 Local Business Spotlight: JC's Seamless Gutters

Here's a home fix most people don't think about until it's overflowing in a downpour — and a family crew worth keeping in your phone for it.

JC's Seamless Gutters, run by Jamie Cleveland out of Nevada, Iowa, does exactly what the name says. "Seamless" means the gutters aren't snapped together from pre-cut pieces that leak at every joint — the crew rolls and forms each run on-site in one continuous length, cut to fit your house, so there's less to clog and less to leak over the years. Estimates are free, which makes them an easy second quote when you're pricing out a gutter job. They're a small family operation based a short drive up Highway 30, northeast of the metro.

The basics:

  • 🏠 Family-owned seamless gutter installation — formed on-site, free estimates

  • 📍 Based in Nevada, IA (a quick trip up Hwy 30 from Ankeny)

  • ☎️ (712) 297-0801 · 📲 Facebook
